She then graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University where she received her Masters of Communication Disorders. She completed her fieldwork at the Auburn University Speech and Hearing Clinic, the Birmingham VA Medical Center, Oakview Manor Nursing Home and Northview High School.
After graduation, Kristen moved back to her hometown of Abbeville to begin her Clinical Fellowship with Restore Therapy in Ozark while also working part-time for the Henry County Nursing Home. She then worked for Dothan City Schools for seven years providing speech and language evaluations and therapy to students in elementary, middle and high school. She also supervised two speech-language pathology interns at Highlands Elementary School. She joined Milestones (formerly Child and Family Services) in 2018.
Kristen has been married to Steve since 2000 and they have three children, Anna Clare, Owen and Benton. They live in Dothan and are active members of First Presbyterian Church. Kristen is a former Children’s Director for Community Bible Study. She currently serves on the board of the Dothan Chapter of National League of Junior Cotillions and on the advisory board for Magnolia Dance Club.
