Andrea Vallejo-Dismukes is certified as a Primitive Reflex Clinical Specialist with 25 years of experience in Alabama and Florida. She has worked with all age groups, but her passion and specialty lie with pediatrics. She has devoted most of her career treating children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, ADD, sensory integration disorder, dysgraphia, executive functions disorder, Down syndrome, and developmental delays. Andrea's goal is to facilitate functional independence and safety in all areas of a child’s activities of daily living, work (academics), and play/leisure. She is dedicated to fostering various learning styles and providing strategies for each child according to their unique needs. Plus, she believes learning can be both productive and fun!
Since earning her occupational therapy degree from the University of South Alabama in 1996, Andrea has gained experience in acute care, skilled nursing, ergonomics, workman’s comp rehab, in-patient and out-patient rehab, home health, and pediatrics. As Director of Occupational Therapy at Flowers Hospital from 1998 until 2002, she led and grew the OT department. Andrea is a current member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She has been working with pediatric clients since 2008 and at Milestones (formerly Child and Family Services) since 2018, where she sees clients privately and also travels to several area schools for skilled therapy. She has earned her Executive Functions Coach/Consultant certification and certificate for Certified Primitive Reflex Clinical Specialist.
Andrea loves nature and the environment. She is also an avid runner, yoga enthusiast, and enjoys learning about health and nutrition. She is married to Jonathan Dismukes and has two teenage children, Victoria and Julian. Sofie and Bowie are their beloved dogs.
